Covenant Group Ministry (CGM)

Covenant Group Ministry (CGM) is an intentional small group (7 - 10 members) program at TUUC.  Our vision is a congregation of life-serving, transformational small groups that liberate the human spirit.  Our mission is to connect people in small groups for worship, support, study, and service, with guidance from the TUUC and the UUA principles.  To learn more about Covenant Group Ministry, click the tabs on the menu or contact Susie Maharry, our Program Coordinator, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  She can provide you with a list of current covenant groups and can help you find your way into one that captures your attention.  She and the Covenant Group members can also help you if you are interested in starting your own covenant group.

The Nonviolent Communication Covenant Group at TUUC

The NVC Covenant Group meets the 1st Saturday of the month from 9:15 – 11am in participants’ homes.  This group is for people of all ages and backgrounds who are looking for connection and meaning.  We will learn and practice NVC, and promote the use of NVC at TUUC and in the wider community.  For information or to get on the email list, contact Mark Backus: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , 759-5978.

National and local NVC contacts and information:

If you would like to find out more about NVC before trying out a practice group, there are materials in the TUUC library.  We recommend Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life by Marshall Rosenberg.  Watching the introductory video The Basics of Nonviolent Communication once or twice is also very helpful.  At first viewing, it may seem clunky, trivial, and silly.  Somewhere in the second viewing it becomes clear that NVC is nothing less than a cultural paradigm shift with all the stops pulled out.  Such sweet music!
